Are Gold Medallion Communities "Eden?"

You might think we were pretty full of ourselves if we tried to use that one on you. But, as confident as we are in our ability to offer older adults a better life, we can't say we offer Eden. What we can say is that the Gold Medallion communities are committed to implementing what is called, "The Eden Alternative." This program offers a set of principles by which we can honor our residents by treating them as Elders.

An Elder is a person who is still growing, still a learner, still with potential and whose life continues to have within it promise for, and connection to, the future. An Elder is still in pursuit of happiness, joy and pleasure, and his and her birthright to these remains intact. Moreover, an Elder is a person who deserves respect and honor and whose work it is to synthesize wisdom from long life experience and formulate this into a legacy for future generations.
