I want to tell you about my recent experience with Joy Schmitz at Rainbow in Bristow. I met Joy when I first started to seriously look at nursing homes back in October last year. As you well know that in itself is a very hard and heartbreaking thing to have to do.
Joy was a very kind and gracious host, showing me around and telling me all about Rainbow. I am from Bristow but Leisure Village was my first choice being closer to my current home in Broken Arrow.
What happened after I left up until I admitted my mom on 8/16/11 truly helped to make my decision to keep my mom at Rainbow in the event Leisure Village had an opening.
Joy has been truly a JOY to me. She called me several times to check on me, my mom and see how things were going was having a hard time selling my moms property to get her in a home. She even tried to spread the word about that as well, being that the property was in Bristow. She always had a sweet and kind voice, letting me know she was there for ME if I needed her. She called a few times when I was having a bad personal day. Just knowing she cared enough to call, made my day better.
On the day I admitted my mom, she had all the paperwork ready to go. Things went smoothly and I did not feel flustered or frustrated over stacks of forms to fill out.
I'm sure once I get to know the nursing staff, I'll come to see Rainbow should have been my first choice. If they are anything like Joy and show the same measure of attention to my mom, I'll be happy to yell from the roof tops "Rainbow Nursing home is the BEST of the BEST"!
